Asterisk 1.8 supports gv out of box. I have asterisk 1.8.2 running now with at least 4 gv accounts registered and they have been working great. SS is not stable and if you run it locally, you will need a computer up and running day and night too. I would rather to have a linux server with asterisk and a lot more.
