Help: Cursor jumps ramdonly

Could anyone help me on this problem: when I type in word, powerpoint, or emails, the cursor may jump around ramdonly. Sometime it may even automatically highlight a portion of text I typed and once I touch another key, the highlighted portion would be deleted!

I am using a DELL laptop.
