Exchange keeps all mails

I am confused. Exchange server hosts all email on the server, if you use X400 connection.

If you use POP3 connection, Tools/Accounts/xxx account/Properties/Advanced/Leave mail on the server(not exact word)

If you use IMAP4, all mails are saved on server too.
