1. start->run->regedit

2. HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG -> System -> CurrentControlSet -> Control -> Video

Now, there should be a random string of characters there which represents the model of the video card in your system. Open whichever one is there and click on "0000".

You can then change the values for DefaultSettings.XResolution and DefaultSettings.YResolution.

3. reboot
