Could be MB's problem. It's better do not touch a PC when it's getting old. Everything is getting fragile and easy to be broken. I guess your LP's PC at least 3+ yr. You can get cheap CPU+MB from Frys. Build a faster PC for your LP and make her happy.
BTW, what is the brand of your case? Ultra?
