system restore question

I got a new hard disk and it has file transfer function, so I transfered my all old file and system file, including windows xp, to my new hard driver. Everything works fine but I cannot use restore function anymore. Whenever I use it, the system shows an error message. Does anybody know how to fix this bug? Please help. I guess that some key disabled or some system film missed.
