Theoratically, cable is about twice as fast as DSL. But you barely can feel unless you play online game a lot.
If you're in US, cable is about $60, if you're not cable TV custmer. Verizon DSL is about the same price. Both of them may have some promotion for first month, three month, etc. You may check with their local office to compare the deal.
