If you want to run Windows applications on OS X, try to install either Parallels Desktop or VMWare for OS X. After the istallation, you could install a Windows OS inside your OS X. It's called a virtual PC or Emulator. It's possible to install and use almost all Windows apps inside your Mac as if they run natively on Windows.

If you don't want virtualization, try to find native alternative programs for OS X. For PDF Writer, Open Office Writer can export your document to PDF.
