Help Help.. My laptop dying...

My laptop automatically shut down frequently. Last night, I found it’s pretty hot and it seems the fan didn’t work.

My question is:
1) Besides physical damage, is it possible this fan malfunction is caused by other software reason, if so, how can I detect it?
2) Is it very difficult to change a laptop fan?
3) If it’s not worth the trouble, and I buy a new one, how can I utilize parts of this old laptop?
4) What’s the best way to transfer data from this old one?
5) I have another old desktop, which was invaded by a lot spyware, i.e. 180solution , best offer, etc., what’s the best way to clean them?
