Big banks have come to realize they must hop on the Bitcoin express before it leaves the station—but spots are limited. What's more, developing the requisite infrastructure, including secure cold storage solutions, will take them at least 2–3 years, especially given the global talent shortage: there are fewer than 5,000 engineers qualified to design and implement such systems.
As a result, I see Coinbase (COIN) as the more certain winner for 2026–2028, emerging stronger after a prolonged period of relative hibernation.
