When you air disagreement with your boss,

 

you may think that you are addressing an issue.

But what your boss is seeing is that you are using a reference point that is not him/her.

When there are two authorities, i.e. your boss and your reference point, one is in front of you, and the other is in your head, who is going to prevail?

If everyone thinks rationally, there would be no need for politics.
