He needs to try hard

Not sure about his age and position he is looking for. I do not think experience is necessarliy an issue, but sometimes age can be. When hiring, everyone in their mind has a profile of which type candidates they are looking for. I feel it is a given in a tough economy to spend a few months to find a good job, so needs to try hard - never know what comes next.
