the root cause of the whole drama

IMHO, is that you have an older caucasian woman who has been there forever... worked hard for years and years to get to where she is - a branch chief or something like that. Then came a bright young Chinese girl with advanced degree, is given a position just as important as hers... You almost know what's going to happen..

Luckymonth didn't have to do anything wrong to be picked on by this counterpart. As a matter of fact she handled pretty well. She just have to be prepared for a long haul. Jealousy makes ppl do stupid things.

One more thing I'd Luckymonth to think about it: never waste a good crisis. When there is a crisis, there is also an opportunity to show ppl how skillful you are to handle crisis so you come out smelling like roses :-)
