sounds like you are doing the job of

a Strategist for your company whether you actually have that title or not.
A couple of things in your post I like:

1. Look at things from your boss's perspective and identify the pain points that your boss really care about
2. Read good books on career related topics or skills (I still remember how enlightened I felt after reading my first book on negotiation); apply them to your work

However, I'm not sue I agree with you on language skill. Saw your clarification in the subsequent post. Sure, we can all survive or do well professionally without having to keep working on our English, but an excellent language skill, I believe, can get us even further ahead.
