If you don't want to be exploited, either yijibang's "open for negotiation" or "happy to accept market rate" is a proper answer. There must be a budget for an open opsition and if you really want to get a job you can't reveal your salary expectation unless you're desperate that you have to ask for a lowered expectation which is unfavourable.
