Your colleague was stupid to use company's email to respond former employer's questions. I did get calls from my former team members about some questions. I always told them to ask their current manager if questions are related to that company’s operation policies.  

Thanks for your post.  I used to have a good relationship with my former boss and it turned up ugly at end. I always dreamed to go back to the good relationship with her.
