If you want to switch to PM type of work eventually,

it's a step forward.  If you want to do tech sales forever, there would be less job opportunities in the market.  Personally I don't like biz travels but it all depends on personalities.  The benefit/no-benefit of this type of work is you deal with people more than in an engineering job.
