going to industry: my experience

I think you should go to industry and you family is much happier. Here is my experience

I graduated from a top school in the US in 2003 and did two year research scientist in the same school and got a green card. In 2005, my fund ran out and I started looking for a job. I got two academic offers and an offers from a couple of big US company.

The salaries are:

company: 70K + 10K bonus

academic: 55K-65K

I  chose the industry position. My salary right now is 140K base pay +30K annual bonus and have potential for another couple of pay grade jump. I work 9-5 and do not have to work over time. My kids are very happy and I do not want to return to academia.
