I want to choose: I was not covered by retirement plan. Because W-2, box13 not checked retirement plan( in addition, I didn't contribute any cents to retirement plan). So I can deduct all $5000 traditional IRA, which can save me $1000 fed. Tax.

I just not sure IRA how to justify whether I was covered by retirement plan.

I don't want to take any risk because so worry about being audited.
