No, don't change your job...
IMHO, it's not worth changing your job. Seriously, asking yourself first, how hard had you ever tried to get this tenure position? I know many friends around me who worked their ass off to get this title, which not only guarantees their stable career but also it's a career honor... When I was in school a couple of yrs ago, some young assit profs worked around clock trying to get their tenure positions. Surely, you are earning a little less salary now but from the long run, you will enjoy the rest of your life without being worried about the job security... Regarding your commute, I would suggest you find either a contractor or part-time job near your home . I know in university/college, you don't need to come to office everyday with 9/5 schedule....Think it over and don't be fooled by those so-called "good job/high salary", which can be gone in no time....
