I am working at a company doing financial analysis/accounting job. The two companies I have worked most recently both had downsized the accounting/finance department. What happened was they both centralized certain accounting functions by creating a shared service center. I lost my job with the first company and survived with the second. My experience makes me realize centralizing or outsourcing certain accounting functions is a trend, and I am concerned about my job security and want to polish my skills to get prepared.

I have an accounting degree and am a CPA. What other skills could improve my future job security or marketability?
