Long unhappy days

Since the company HQ was moved to another country, I have less and less things to do. Old HQ people were either laid off or moved to other positions. I was one of 2 people still working here. The days became very long and my manager’s face is colder and colder (she is always like that, if I am busy, she is happy. If I have more spare time, she changed her face), and that make me unhappy. But it seems she has no intention to let me go shortly. I don’t want to quit since I would not get any package by doing so. I am thinking taking some time off after years of working as full time. Shall I talk to my manager to lay me off?
