(I will use English because mastering English is a prerequisite)。
1. Great communication skills -- this is more than just speaking impeccable English. It includes at least the following things:
Accurate usage of words (understand the trivial differences among similar words and know how to use them accurately);
Timing of communication (be sensitive about others' feeling and the environment);
Communication channel (who to speak with about what, email or oral, in office or in coffee shop, during tea break or after a few drinks, etc.);
Understanding the importance of body language and tone;
etc.
"Silence will never betray you" because "Loose lips sink ships" and "our tongue is the most difficult organ to control though we use it most often".
To improve one's communication skill should be an ongoing process, and, it never ends.
2. Build others.
At an early stage, you need to identify the right leader(s) to follow. Try your best to make them more successful and learn from them -- this way you can gradually establish your own network for your future. They will watch your back. More importantly, you will learn why they can get to where they are today and start to realize one cannot count on luck.
Later, you need to identify the right team to contribute. Try your best to build your team members and make them more successful. The best leader is the kind of leader who leads with a serving heart, who cares about his team and helps others to grow.
The best career is the kind of career that captures both your passion and your strength, and, something that makes good money:-)
The best career future results from focusing on your passion and strength and building others.
The best "weapon", in my opinion, is a genuinely loving heart to others.
The best "career GPS", in my opinion, is to focus on the big direction and not get distracted by small "losses".
