don't listen to ur direct boss. his days are numbered.

From what u said, i have impression that.

1. ur direct boss is trying to keep upper management from knowing the issue.

2. ur bigger boss is powerful enough to get ur ass covered.

3. it's nothing personal, try to use official channel to get issue solved.

4. ur direct boss failed/fooled u once, don't let him ever do this again.
