I did this way:

1. Install a VMWare server.

2. Under VMWare server, install XP as a virtual machine.

3. Your Vista is not replaced and you can still run it when you need.

My Laptop runs XP, Vista, and a few different Linux OSs. I power on the one that I need for a specific task.
