ask for advice: what I should do?
It seems that I never had a good luck in this company.
I had a bad Indian manager before. Finally, he was kicked out. I thought my situation should be improved a bit better. The new manager (american white man) does not like me from the very beginning (My own feeling at that time). Honest speaking, I am a very standard chinese woman, working hard, like to talk, humble, willing to help others. Yes, I only go to his office to bug him whenever I need his decision.
I did not realize how bad impression he got on me till the year end evaluation. He said some my delivery did not meet expectation, my writing need considerable re-write etc... Of course, I was shocked when he said I missed the timeline. I asked him to give me an example because I never heard any complaining of my delivery. Everything was finished on time (This can be easily verified from the company's system). He could not. Then he changed to "then how about your writing". I told him English is not my mother language. However, I don't agree "considerable re-write". I published tachnical papers on Professoral US journals. I certainly won't be that confident about my writing as about my technical skill. However, it should not be that bad as it deserves "re-write". I used the company template, unless he wanted to change the template....
I was assigned as project leader for two major milestones last yr. These are also only two major ones for the company. I wroked very very hard. Everything was completed on time. However, I did not get any credits for what I should. The first one was completely took away from me once I am done all the analyses and programs.
Anyway, I left my comments on my evaluation form, and stated my manager's comments on me are not accurate. I feel very very hurt, of course sad...depressed...
If your manager has a bias on you, what can you do? How to pretect yourself?
In this situation, is it the time to look for another job?
I believe my manager has bias on chinese, as he told us a story as: once in his team in another company, there was a chinese who insisted his method was right, and criticised my manager's was wrong. My manager told this chinese person: "since I am your manager, just do it as my wrong method".
