Most of the time i think the best love poetry is from experience. people go through what they are writing about. the poems come from heart and soul.

but i also agree that not all good poems need to be personally experienced. Fantasy is always better then reality. people can fake the situation, writing about desired love. So a great writer can fake emotions.
