I got master's in 2 years, was hesitating between working and continuing PHD program, I even got 60k-offer (98's),but eventually I finished my phd, and consider it as a personal achievement.

I got nice job afterwards until now, although seriously has nothing to do with my phd work, but so what? I don't feel anything really wasted.
Everyone is unique, don't copy others' life.
