Is this an opportunity?

I'm a professional at HQ. Now there is a Manager opening at a business unit. Is this an opportunity for me? Should I apply?

Background info:
HQ: I have a high visibility job for three year and just got promoted this year. But the career opportunity is limited. I can be manager in three years if I'm lucky. And very little chance to be director.

Business unit: The manager job will cover cross functional analysis and has some visibility to BU CEO. This position is promotable to director but timing pending on current director promoted and the manager's performance.

I told my bosses that I'm interested in the job and talked to the hiring director. The job seems interesting. But I can't think clearly about the pros and cons whether I should apply.
