can someone teach me how to brown-nose?

Just finished a training with feedback sruvey. GM gave me a comment that I should "exhibit more deference to her sr. colleagues who have successfully navigated the organizational waters to learn how to best achieve her objectives" My confidante at work translated this into "learn how to brown-nose". any tips?
