Job Selection

My hu*****and and I have a difficult decision to make. My hu*****and had a job offer from my working company in the Middle West of US. This new position level is lower than his current position in CA, which means less responsibility, no people should (or only one) will report to him, and maybe more free time. Base salary is the same, but the bonus is about $20,000 less than his current position in CA. His coming would unite with me and we will work in the same group. My working company currently is less competitive than his and his current position is pretty stable and has more growing space for him, but it is very demanding. We are current nearly 40 years old. I like the low living cost in the middle west part of US. I did not have any job offer yet to move to CA and no children. I am wondering how can we make a correct choice, he move to my part now, or I move to CA in the near future? Based on what I said, can you give me any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
