For the states on my plate, I normally handle it my way. Since it is a new state which I am not familiar, I think it would be better to run by my boss and my teammate to see if I need to seek any important information from third party for curtesy and double insurance.

I am thinking I am communicating it for good will. But sometimes your boss might not see that in this way.
