Does smaller firm need internal auditor? I think only public firm need internal auditor for the Sox compliance. I am afraid that once I choose to be an internal auditor, I will have to be on this career track forever.

I also looked for other opportunity, but it seems now is not a good time to transfer to accountant or financial analyst.
