This issue is not unusual among Chinese -- the kind of Chinese who managed to get here by GRE, Tofel, then got the first job in US. It's actually quite common to see this sort of issue on them, and it's usually impossible to fix the issue just by talking, training, mentoring, or even warning... they learn it in a more real way -- let go a couple of times.

My suggestion for hiring managers is: only hire Chinese newbies on temp. basis, half a year contract or so, kind of thing..., don't hire them into perm position before they have the experience of being fired several times -- they usually learn a lesson after that, and become suitable for perm position after that.
