Next time, be a bit polite and soften your words a bit:

"Good Morning, xxx. Sorry I am late, there was an accident on 100 east and traffic was backed up badly."

If you always have good reasons for being late. Those reasons become bad excuses in everyone else's eyes. Just an FYI.
