Talk about my experience with 2015 Nissan Leaf

i live in Houston, southwest part of it. my office is in at east of houston (Baytown), 52 miles one way distance. my car was Infiniti G, consumed about $460 a month on gas, so i jumped on Leaf right after i was able to put my hands on one. then installed a home charging station in 3 days for total of $1000. considered the miles i will put on it, i bought it instead of leasing - the more i drive, the more i would not have spent on gas mentality.
this is its 6th week with me, with 5000 miles already. just want to share my experience with someone curious about this car.
1. i bought the S, base model: i didn't want anything unnecessary, such as GPS with large display. but i insisted to have one with quick charger installed.
2. during the first 2 weeks, i DID have mileage anxiety, worried about what would happen if there is no charging stations around. after this period, i started feeling comfortable of driving out wtihout worry, because (1) knew its capability (2) knew locations of most charging stations along the area i mostly go to.
3. i leave for work at 6am, still very dark, head lights have to be on. out of my house, there is about 10 miles of city traffic, meaning traffic lights or slow downs. the speed is about 30-45 mph depending on timing. then, the rest 40 plus miles will be on hwy, average 65 mph. i compared having AC on or off, the on situation will drease 8% of mileage per charge roughly, but the head lights on seems no noticible negative effect on drving range. under head lights on/AC on situation, after my trip of 52 miles, i will still have anywhere from 35 to 46 miles of juice left on my car when i arrive at work, depending how fast i was driving (constantly over 70 mph speed decreases the driving range dramatically). then i charge it up at company parking lot for free. As a result, i would say, with above mentioned features NOT TURNED ON, and with a steady 45-60 mph, it will go over 100 miles, i've tried.
3. about 2000 miles worth of electricity was charged at home, at rate of $0.11 per kwt, my current month bill increase is about $30/mo. and, the insurance is about $40/mo extra.
4. it is the extra car for my family, great commuter, very good handling and acceleration. on weekend, my wife drives it for taking kids to different classes without worry, then i get to drive my G, LOL!!!
overall, one has to really have it for a while to switch from gas powered car mentality to a electricity driven car, in addition to behavial changes. EV has its advantages while its dissavantages exist. as long as we are able to find the balance, it will blend into our life with much easier acceptance.
wrote at work, haha, may be a lot typos. but definately hope it is able to di-confuse some of you in Nissan Leaf.
