you are doing right. oil is cheap engine isn't.

never overstretch oci. only use premium oil with top rated filter.  oil is cheap, engine is not. 
with full synthetic mobil 1 oil. i always change oil at every 7kmi, change filter at every other oil change.  maybe it's just me.
