Use a bunch of little bolts.

I did it a couple of times; piece of cake yet works well. Don't like the version using glue.

A little trick is, bolt the boot up before put on greese. Or it will cost you one more hour to finish.

However, one guy here recommended a Chinese shop that can expand the boot so that the cost is low enough that  the slit boot may not be worth trying.
