with the information you provided, it is likely to be tranny, expecially with burnt ATF and low line pressure for first gear.  But it is a good idea to get a second shop to confirm it.  I would say spend $20 for an additive (harden the ATF a bit) and see if symptom improves.  If yes, then consider the tranny repair.
