Help: the check engine light is on

My car is Toyota camry 03, the check engine light is on and the code scan shows: evaporative emissiion control system leak detected ( small leak ), what's that meaning?  And also when the car speeds over 60 mile, there is going be loud noise, maybe from engine.  what's the problem?  Can I fix it myself?  Thank you!
