Mazda 3, No brainer. I think Mazda and Suburu are the mostly undrerated brands. Mazda 3's engine is 2.0L(optional 2.5) while Civic is 1.8L. Mazda 3 is more stylish, better equipped. Civic's inside looks much cheaper. Handling is better for Mazda 3, too. In addition, Mazda 3 is made in Japan but Civic in North America. Mazda 3 is heavier and engine is bigger so GPM is higher and maintenence may be more costly.You'll also find Mazda 3 feels much firmer. Some people like it some don't. But BMW is also well known for being firm. I recommend you get a hatch back, more versatile.
