I did similar calculation like yours and fully agree with you numbers. But one big factor you missed: BMW has $3500 diesel credit and also, if in US (which is my case), one can file next year federal tax return for $1800 tax credit (if it is a purchase instead of lease). These are not what one can bargain for from 35i.
