bad water pump not necessary cause leak... the weird noise

sounds like sharp metal scratching. Open the hood and listen and look, then compare a normal car while it is running. You will tell the different.

it could go bad for any reason. sometimes alternator need to be replaced too. It shouldn't be that expensive, a couple of hundreds is needed though.
