If you need 4wd on road, better choose limited
Part Time 4WD system does not have center differential,
once you engage into 4WD mode, front and rear axle
turn at the same speed. Therefore, you can only use 4WD
off road. On the road, it is strongly recommended that you have to stick with 2WD mode, otherwise, damage can
happen to your powertrain.
Full Time 4WD system provides a center differential. Allowing front and rear axle turn at different speed. So you can use 4WD High (4H) mode on road safely, giving you more confidence in bad rain or snow situation. However, it is still recommended to use 2WD on road to save gas on normal road condition.
Also, once you engage in 4WD low (4L) mode, center differential will be locked, therefore, never, ever use 4L mode on road.
