Don't bet with life, not worth it

For most cars, about $300 to change timing belt and water pump. If it breaks on highway, aside from danger it posts to driver and others, the cost could be mounting - towing $120~, engine repair $800 (if not interference), and the days you have no cars... Yak, why you'd do that?
