tried both, bought RX350 basically for my wife, but both of us love it, very quite, smooth ride, good acceleration and driving dynamic, but poor MPG, we drove ~2000 miles so far, ~17 city MPG and 20 highway MPG. X3 is smaller and bumpier. BMW 4 year warranty cover everything, including oil change. Overall, RX 350 is a better choice, if you don't care much about brand name.
