Historically, a V8 was not reliable for BMW

The company is best known for its in-line 6. BMW pioneered turbo technology. I don't think it's a huge issue to fix fuel pump cost-wise, plus the warrenty has been extended to 120k mi. Posche and ferrari got bigger issues.
