Civic may cost more

Civic LX or Corolla LE are around $16500 plus TTL now. One of my friend just bought a Civic LX in MN. But I bought mine Pontiac Vibe for around $15000 plus TTL.I found my Vibe has the same Toyota Corolla enigine under hood, and have 5 star crash test. Why pay more just for Toyota badge?
