They are very different even though they fall into the same art
style category.

Dali's paintings have been
full of drama and philosophical ideas; some could be "manipulative".                

The works of Tanguy who does not have any formal training in
art - - - if I remember right, a painting he saw through the window when
walking on the street inspired him to paint - - -  has something really associated with
automatism that Surrealism advocated in the beginning. More “Kong ling”, as if the images are
conjured up through meditation, very personal.
