When only silence speaks

When only silence speaks
Hearts are saddening
When only silence speaks
Hearts are listening

Mouths are corked with a horn
To blow hymn to the big brother   
Between lips lies are born
Between lips truth is torn

When only silence speaks
Hearts are saddening
When only silence speaks
Hearts are listening

But in silence hearts yearn 
And mourn the match that lit the fire
In the flames lies are burned
In the flames truth is learned

Jenny Middleton - Beautifully composed and finely balanced lines and images. The ending couplet draws the ideas together well and leaves readers with a positive feeling for the future.
